
Ed Laut Cello Concert
Ed Laut Plays Bach's Preludes
in Free Concert at Cider Gallery
KU Professor Emeritus Ed Laut will offer a live cello concert on Sunday July 16 at 1:30 PM at Cider Gallery, 810 Pennsylvania St., playing all the Preludes to the Six Suites for Solo Cello by J.S. Bach, and also some of his favorite movements from the various Suites, with running commentary between numbers. The event is free and open to the public.
In 1977, Laut joined the faculty of the University of Kansas, where he was named Outstanding Educator by the Mortar Board Society. In his long and illustrious career, he has appeared as cello soloist on radio and television in the U.S. and abroad. He has recorded for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and National Public Radio, and won plaudits of such composers as Samuel Barber, George Crumb and Virgil Thompson for his performances of their works. His latest CD, "Harmonic Fusion," features his arrangements and compositions for guitar and cello.
