Ed Laut Plays Bach's Preludes

in Free Concert at Cider Gallery

KU Professor Emeritus Ed Laut will offer a live cello concert on Sunday July 16 at 1:30 PM at Cider Gallery, 810 Pennsylvania St., playing all the Preludes to the Six Suites for Solo Cello by J.S. Bach, and also some of his favorite movements from the various Suites, with running commentary between numbers.  The event is free and open to the public.

In 1977, Laut joined the faculty of the University of Kansas, where he was named Outstanding Educator by the Mortar Board Society.  In his long and illustrious career, he has appeared as cello soloist on radio and television in the U.S. and abroad.  He has recorded for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and National Public Radio, and won plaudits of such composers as Samuel Barber, George Crumb and Virgil Thompson for his performances of their works.  His latest CD, "Harmonic Fusion," features his arrangements and compositions for guitar and cello.

Betty Soo "House Concert"

Betty Soo "House Concert"

Betty Soo may well have the most gorgeous voice in Texas at the moment, if not in all contemporary folk.

The purity and strength can be downright devastating when shined through the prism of songs from her deeply moving When We’re Gone. The rest of her catalog is just as rich - and varied, with Little Tiny Secrets flashing a sense of humor as wicked as the true grit that characterized Gurf Morlix-produced Heat Sin Water Skin. -Acoustic Guitar Magazine

Tickets $20 through Eventbrite!
