Meet the Artist - Rick Wright

Rick Wright is a local Kansas City Missouri artist armed with a B.F.A. in Design/Illustration, and an M.A. in art education from the University of Kansas. His depiction of figures in motion is inspired by an interest in dance and performance arts, particularly burlesque and cirque nouveau performers. Rick combines classicist anatomical figures with a painterly expressionist approach to create his signature style that marries the raw appearance of the sketch with the refined and meticulous quality of the finished painting.

Rick is no stranger to exhibitions and routinely exhibits his art in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area and elsewhere from Chicago, to Memphis, and beyond. Rick is also an experienced art educator and currently teaches at Van-Go Inc. here in lawrence.

Rick’s current show will be on exhibit at the Cider Gallery during regular hours through November 18th.
